The Minister of Music is responsible to the pastor for:

Planning, conducting/leading, and coordinating the church music ministry

Ministering directly to and collaboratively with the worship team

Provide spiritual guidance through music for the worship team and the congregation

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Establish a vision for the Music Ministry at Central Baptist.

2. Build relationships within the congregation and draw out areas of talent as well as desire to serve in the music ministry as appropriate. Recruit, train, and mentor volunteer musicians and vocalists.

3. Schedule rehearsals and maintain clear communication with all music ministry participants.

4. Plan, conduct, coordinate, and evaluate a comprehensive music program for all ages within the church.

5. Leadership style: someone who will correct mistakes, have high expectations, coach, not be too passive.

6. Educate on music with a minister mind.

7. Remain thoughtful and prayerful in determining musical needs, which may vary in style, instrumentation, leadership, etc.

8. Be communicative with the worship team/choir/band and the congregation regarding updates or news within the music ministry as appropriate.

9. Practice Christian stewardship and integrity with regard to finances.

10. Actively assist the pastor in planning worship services, and other events as needed.

11. Submit a proposed itemized music ministry budget to the Finance Committee as part of the annual budget preparation process each year.

12. Coordinate with the ministry team responsible for operating the sound system, online streaming, and other media needs.

13. Collaborate with ministry staff in programming the visual aids in Logos Proclaim.

14. Engage in personal spiritual formation practices to help guide others to worship through music.

Qualifications:

Personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Desire to be committed, self and family, to Central Baptist and the community of Italy.

Relevant musical skills, education/training, and experience. Practical ability is valuable.

Work well in collaboration with current staff.
